Is hMG (Menotropins) FDA-approved?

FDA-approved (Menopur) for fertility treatment.

Overview

Menotropins are purified from the urine of postmenopausal women, whose FSH and LH levels are naturally high. In women they stimulate the ovaries for IVF. In men with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (the pituitary doesn't send the signal), HCG plus FSH from hMG has been used since the 1980s to start sperm production.

How it works

FSH stimulates egg follicles in women and sperm-producing cells in men; the LH part supports hormone production.

How long does hMG (Menotropins) stay in the body?

It's a mix of hormones, so there isn't one clean number. Levels build over several days of injections.
