Is survodutide FDA-approved?

Investigational. Not FDA-approved.

Overview

In a 46-week phase 2 trial, adults with obesity on the highest dose lost about 15% of body weight, versus about 3% on placebo. In a phase 2 MASH trial, liver disease improved in up to 62% of people, versus 14% on placebo. Phase 3 trials for obesity and MASH followed, with the first obesity results published in 2026.

How it works

GLP-1 action lowers appetite. Glucagon action raises energy use and helps the liver burn stored fat, which is why it's being studied for fatty liver.

How long does survodutide stay in the body?

Long enough for once-weekly shots in trials.

What it's studied for

Reported side effects
